CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) –The Richview Middle School boys’ basketball team traveled to Rockvale High School for the TMSAA Class 3A State Championship game against the Elmore Park Eagles, who had not lost a game in over three years. The Eagles caught fire from three early on and built a big lead, as the Cowboys couldn’t come back from the early deficit.
Elmore Park won 53-32, securing their third consecutive undefeated state championship season, as Richview finished as the second-best team in class 3A in the state of Tennessee in 2025.
Elmore Park had the size advantage going into the matchup, as they had two forwards standing at around 6-foot-3 each. The Cowboys did a great job protecting the paint; however, it was the perimeter where the Eagles caught fire, hitting eight threes in the first half alone. Going into the half, the Cowboys were getting beat 32-10. While Richview outscored the Eagles in the second half, they were unable to overcome the first half deficit.
“It was an honor to get to this game,” said Richview head coach Josh Buchholz. “It’s not the result we hoped for but making it here and winning a game in the state tournament, it’s a true blessing. This is a historic season.”
Richview can hold their heads high, as it’s the first time they’ve made it to the state championship game and the first Clarksville area middle school team to ever play for a state title. To put it simply, this is a season that the players will remember for a lifetime.
“We’ve had foundations set, but this year our foundation has elevated,” Buchholz told Clarksville Now. “We now know what it takes to get to this level, to be one of the best in the state. That’s going to change the way we practice; we play, and the way we approach the game. I couldn’t be prouder of my guys.”
