CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Wade Bourne Nature Center will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m.

The center broke ground last summer in Rotary Park and will be open to the public starting this Saturday.

The 4,300-square-foot structure commemorates the late award-winning journalist Wade Bourne and his admiration for nature.

Bourne was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force before his career in journalism. His works have been viewed and listened to for over 40 years before his death in 2016.

Becky Bourne, his widow, said that she hopes that through this new addition to the Clarksville community, people can “understand the importance, just for the physical, mental and spiritual benefit for people being outdoors.”

The ceremony will be held at 2308 Rotary Park Drive.

Expected to attend are Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Becky Bourne, Ducks Unlimited President Doug Schoenrock, Montgomery County Parks Director Jerry Allbert, Customs House Museum Executive Director Frank Lott and Lane Lyle of Lyle-Cook Martin Architects.
