CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rev. Jeremiah Walker has announced his campaign for the Democratic nomination to the Montgomery County Commission, District 10.

Walker, a native of Georgetown, South Carolina, is a retired veteran of the U.S. Army, having served more than 20 years. He is also retired from Tennessee state government, where he worked for more than 15 years at the Tennessee Prison for Women as the procurement officer.

He acknowledged his call to the ministry in 2006 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville. He is a graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia, and has completed seven years of studies at the Clarksville Baptist School of Religion.

From 2008 to 2015, he was the minister in charge of the Saturday worship service at Light House Mission in Clarksville. He is the chaplain for the Veteran Treatment Court and is the pastor of Lewis/Wimberly Missionary Baptist Church in Cumberland City. Walker is active in the Cumberland River South Kentucky Middle Tennessee Baptist District Association, where he is a member of the Pastors’ and Ministers’ Conference, serving as treasurer and on the District Brotherhood. He is the dean of Christian Education for the Sunday School BTU. Walker is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

“My life has been about service, and if elected it is my goal to continue to serve the people of not only District 10 but all of Clarksville and Montgomery County,” Walker said.

District 10 covers the Fort Campbell area, roughly north of Dover Road and 101st Airborne Division Parkway, along with a section along Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Walker is married to the former Cynthia Linen, also of Georgetown, South Carolina, and they have two children and four grandchildren.
