CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Retired United States Army Sergeant Noah Galloway made an appearance at Fort Campbell’s Exchange on August 16 to sign copies of his book. This event takes place during the installation’s 75th Anniversary Celebration and he was very excited to be back at Fort Campbell.

“This means a lot to be here. I don’t get a chance to come back up to Fort Campbell very often, but it’s amazing when I get the opportunity to. It’s home,” Galloway said.

He is a retired Army Sergeant. The September 11 terrorist attacks were Galloway’s motivation to serve his country. He dropped out of college, enlisted, and ended up being stationed at Fort Campbell. He was later injured in combat Iraq in 2005, and the injury caused him to lose his left arm above the elbow and his left leg above the knee.

Galloway is now a motivational speaker and the author of the book, Living with No Excuses: The Remarkable Rebirth of an American Soldier.

“After I was injured and after I retired from the military, I went through a lot of struggles and depression and a lot of people didn’t know that part of my story after Dancing with the Stars, but I wanted to share it because when I was going through the struggles I thought I was alone,” he said.

When asked about writing his book, Galloway said, “I did it really hoping that even if one person reads it that was going through the same thing, they would see that there was a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Galloway is a proud father of three young children. An appearance on the cover of Men’s Health Magazine and Ellen eventually led to him competing on Dancing with The Stars during Season 20. His children are one of the many reasons he agreed to do the show.

“My kids are important, they’re a priority in my life in everything I do,” he said.

Producers let him and his partner practice back home in Alabama and fly back and forth to Los Angeles for the live show every week so that he could remain at home with his family.
