Review by Pamela Holz, Realtor for Reliant Realty

Aware that I am reviewing a restaurant every week, my friends have begun to suggest places I just have to try. And so I found myself driving towards Adams, deep in the heart of Port Royal State Park, when I came upon my destination. Port Royal Café is a rustic little restaurant, tucked on the side of Port Royal Road. The exterior gives the feel of a time long ago, and stepping inside, the interior is simple as well, but the aroma that greets you is promising of a delicious feast.

As Port Royal Café is the Home of the Wet Burrito, my friend agrees to order one so that we can fully appreciate the house specialty. I order the Pollo con Queso. When the food arrives, it is easy to see why the Wet Burrito has earned its fame. It is an enormous burrito, stuffed full of steak, rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and salsa… and then smothered in melted cheese and green sauce. My plate is also impressive: cheesy marinated chicken served with rice, beans, and really tasty corn tortillas.

If you are not in the mood for Mexican fare, you can go with a burger, a sandwich, or several choices of salads. The seating area is not large, and if you show up at noon, you may end up waiting for a table or eating outside, especially on Mondays when rumor has it they serve sirloin steak as the lunch special. A double pork chop plate is also an occasionally featured lunch special.

Port Royal Café not only serves an impressively filling, inexpensive lunch, but you can stop by for breakfast if you happen to be out in the area in the morning.
A quaint little restaurant with delicious food at a great price… all in a fun and unexpected location. Love it when I hear about places like this. Would love to hear about your favorite place in the area!
