CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Morgan Johnson had a fascination with coffee, and Cassandra Sayles and Christopher Stange had a fascination with gaming. With the help of Heather Johnson, they were able to combine those fascinations to create Respawn Coffee Company.

Morgan Johnson dreamed of opening his own coffee shop ever since he was in high school in Oregon. But after he joined the Army, he had to put those plans on hold. Then he met soon-to-be Heather Johnson, who became his wife, and Sayle and Stange, who became close friends.

Respawn, which combines coffeeshop and arcade, just north of the developing Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Heather Johnson said the four co-owners do everything together. Their business, which opened Nov. 9, is built on total team effort: They never make a final decision on what to do next unless they all agree.

“Our goal is to get involved with the community; we want to be able to give back to the people and make it a place for all ages to feel welcomed in,” Heather Johnson said.

Respawn is a family- and pet-friendly.

What’s inside

On the coffee side of the business, beans are roasted on-site, and Respawn has teamed up with veteran-owned Black Rifle and Death Wish coffee companies.

As for gaming, there’s a pool table, two arcades, PC games and two virtual reality rooms.

Long term, they are looking to obtain a liquor license so they can expand their range of beverages.

And one day they hope to expand and maybe franchise to more popular areas, such as Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. They chose the current location because they are the only coffee shop in a heavily populated area near Fort Campbell, which also makes it easier for Morgan Johnson.
