CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy was arrested in Clarksville Thursday night after he allegedly fired shots at an SUV driver who crashed into him and drove away.

It happened at the intersection of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and Morris Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police say Samson Peltier, 45, was rear-ended by a dark-colored Jeep SUV, causing light damage to the rear bumper of his car.

Peltier and the unknown driver got out of their vehicles to look at the damage. When the unknown driver found out the police had been notified, he reportedly got into his Jeep and attempted to flee the scene.

Peltier then reportedly drew his handgun and fired it at the Jeep eight times as it drove away, leaving debris on the roadway.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler has not been located.

Peltier, a Reserve Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, was booked into the Montgomery County jail on charges of reckless endangerment. He has been placed on administrative leave, according to Jamie Dexter, Public Information Officer for MCSO.

“Deputy Peltiar receives the same annual training as our full time paid deputies and 100 hours of initial training plus quarterly firearms training,” Dexter said.
