CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has planned a large resurfacing (repaving) project for I-24 between Clarksville and Nashville.

According to TDOT spokesperson Heather Jensen, the project spans 11.55 miles and three counties along I-24 north of Nashville.

Resurfacing will take place in Cheatham, Robertson, and Davidson counties from the Robertson-Cheatham County line, east of Highway 49, through Robertson and Cheatham Counties, into Davidson County, to near Clay Lick Road.

Lane closures are expected Sundays through Thursdays during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

Jensen said weekend lane closures are possible, if needed, depending on weather and project progress. Lane closure activity will be halted in the days surrounding the July 4th holiday.

Currently contract crews are doing some preliminary work including de-grassing shoulders and posting signage in the area. Drivers will notice more construction activity after the holiday.

The nearly $8 million project is expected to be completed by September 30, 2018.
