FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Byrd Army Medical Home will begin remodeling construction Monday, Aug. 8, and will affect patient and staff parking, changes in the Family Patient Check-In & Waiting Area, and the Physical Therapy Patient Check-In & Waiting Area for the next three months or longer.
The Spc. Jordan M. Byrd Health Clinic provides primary medical care services to some 4,800 family members, primarily those living in nearby housing areas. About 7,000 Soldiers also receive their primary healthcare services at Byrd Clinic.
The intent of this project is to renovate the Byrd Clinic to meet the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. An interim project was completed in early fiscal year 2014 to meet the intent of PCMH. However, this project will provide the long-term final solution for the requirement. The project includes a small addition to the building, as well as renewing specific spaces within the existing footprint.
The existing Physical Therapy (PT) Department is not large enough to accommodate required equipment and patient load. The intent of this work is to provide about 600 additional square feet and to reconfigure the existing space in a more optimal design. An additional access point will be provided through a newly created waiting space in the Family Clinic.
In the Family Clinic, an additional new entrance/vestibule will be created. The existing Reception, Waiting, and Education Rooms will be reconfigured, and a larger Team Room will be created.
Patients are encouraged to arrive as early as possible to accommodate parking constraints.
The clinic officer in charge of Byrd Clinic, Capt. Seth Grubbs, apologized for any inconvenience this construction may cause. Grubbs said the overall construction for Byrd Army Medical Home will last approximately 10-12 months, and work will be phased to keep the clinic operational at all times.
