CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee River Chapter of the American Red Cross recently welcomed a new Executive Director, Pamela Holz. Holz, previously held the post as Center Operations and Programs Manager for USO Fort Campbell and USO Nashville.

Holz has a long history of supporting the local community and said she is happiest when she is helping and it’s a privilege to serve other people. She added that one of the great things about her new position is the Red Cross supports Fort Campbell through its services offered the armed forces.

“Working with the USO was a wonderful opportunity and I’m very thankful for that and then another opportunity came with this executive director position with the Red Cross. I saw it as even a bigger opportunity to help even more people,” said Holz.

Talking about the Red Cross, Holz said she wasn’t sure if people in the community we’re aware of the organization’s resources and how much the Red Cross and its volunteers contribute to their fellow citizens, saying there are a lot of heroes working here.

“It’s really phenomenal the amount of hours that are put in by our volunteers and I have the utmost respect for the care and passion that the people here show,” Holz said. In case you didn’t know, the Tennessee River Chapter of the Red Cross covers 12 counties in Middle Tennessee.

Holz said that there are many people in the community that don’t really know about the services offered by the organization. One in particular is their response for the victims of house fires. Volunteers work to help victims recover from the trauma of having a fire in their home.

When it comes to volunteers, they are always welcome at the Red Cross. “From helping out a little bit to a lot, if there are people who are looking for a way to get involved and looking for a way to give back to the community, volunteering with the Red Cross is pretty amazing,” Holz said.

Holz wanted to remind everyone about their blood donation services. Every Monday, the Red Cross offers blood donation services at their office on Madison Street starting at 10 a.m. It takes between 20-30 minutes and you’ll be saving multiple lives by sharing your gift of blood.

You have probably heard about the blood donation and disaster services offered by the Red Cross, but there is so much more to the organization such as first aid and CPR classes as well as many other programs that will benefit you, your family and your community.

You’ll find the Tennessee River Chapter of the American Red Cross at 1760 Madison Street, across from the IHOP restaurant in Clarksville. To make a financial donation, a blood donation or to volunteer, learn more about the Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org or call 931-645-6401.
