CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Tennessee River Chapter of the American Red Cross cut a ribbon Monday as a new member of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. LoriAnn Tinajero, Executive Director of the local Red Cross Chapter, said the chamber has always been a supporter of the Red Cross.
“They have been helping during times of disasters, they have been helping to get information out, they’ve been helping in terms of our donations. When we need to identify blood donations that need more people, the chamber of commerce has been posting that for us,” Tinajero said.
Tinajero said the mission of the Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate suffering. “We prevent suffering with our first aid, CPR and AED classes, and we alleviate with our disaster program,” Tinajero said.
Tinajero also emphasized that blood donations are always needed and said multiple lives can be saved with just one unit of blood and encouraged the community to donate blood especially during the summer months.
The Tennessee River Chapter of the American Red Cross is headquartered at 1760 Madison Street in Clarksville and serves 12 counties across Middle Tennessee as well as Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
