CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Record-setting cold is in the forecast for Clarksville and Montgomery County.

Meteorologist Sam Herron with the National Weather Service said temperatures will continue to fall into the teens Wednesday afternoon with brisk winds from 15 to 25 mph. Wind chill values will be in the single digits.

A few snow showers may linger throughout the day with a chance for minor additional accumulation.

Temperatures will drop below zero to around -6 degrees. 10 mph winds will make it feel like -17.

The high for Thursday will reach 14, which will set the record for the lowest high temperature for that day in February.

Another storm system will head this way Friday with a possibility of snow in the morning and afternoon, which will then transition to sleet and freezing rain.

By Saturday, temperatures will climb close to 50 degrees with heavy rainfall expected.

Lt. Steve Warren with the Clarksville Police Department said roads did refreeze overnight, with some of the most dangerous areas on Fort Campbell Blvd., Dover Rd., Tiny Town Rd., and any street with a hill.

Many residential subdivisions have not been treated with salt or plows and are proving difficult to travel. Business parking lots are also difficult to enter and exit.

No power outages have been reported so far in the city and all traffic lights are functioning.
