CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – We’ve reached the end of the 2024-25 high school fall sports season. Between the storylines, the upsets, the victories, and even the defeats, it was a fun ride with some talented teams in the area. Let’s take a look at just how historical the fall season was for Clarksville area sports.

Northwest and Clarksville High volleyball

Starting out on the volleyball court, Northwest High won their second consecutive district championship this season led by first year head coach Sonia Franklin. On the other side of town, Clarksville High volleyball won their seventh straight district championship and fourth consecutive region championship, extending a decade of dominance for the Wildcats program.

Cross country and golf

Meanwhile in cross country and golf, we saw several teams and individuals qualify for the state tournament, capping off another successful season on the green and on the course. At the state cross country meeting, Clarksville High, Kirkwood, Montgomery Central, Northeast, Northwest, Rossview and West Creek all had runners representing their respective teams, according to the TSSAA. Then, Clarksville High boys’ and girls’ golf each qualified for the state tournament.

Clarksville area girls’ soccer

Next up, we head to the pitch, where Clarksville High girls’ soccer won the regular season district 13-3A crown, but the Rossview Hawks came back in the postseason, winning their third consecutive district and regional title. West Creek girls’ soccer also had a strong season where they finished in the top two of the standings in their district for the third consecutive year.

‘Calzretta for the extra point’

Making the transition from the soccer field to the football field, we have Lexie Calzretta who made history for the Clarksville Academy football team this season when she knocked in nine extra point attempts as the Cougars placekicker. The junior is expected to play women’s soccer at Stetson University once she has graduated, according to previous reports.

2024-25 high school football

The 2024-25 high football season saw several key storylines. First, you had four new head coaches in Wyatt Page at Montgomery Central, Deonte Weston at Northeast, Micheal Booker at West Creek and Mark Hall at Northwest.

Under the leadership of Page, Montgomery Central was able to break their 20-game losing streak against Whites Creek with an 8-0 victory. Then, on the last game of the season, the Indians won their second game against Greenbrier.

As for Northwest High and West Creek High, under their new head coaches, each program improved their records compared to the previous season.

On Exit 8, Rossview High compiled their best record at 8-3 since the 2014 season. Kirkwood High earned its first playoff berth in school history and actually hosted the first round of the postseason.

Fort Campbell also found success in 2024, finishing with a .500 or better record for the first time in a decade. They also had the leading tackler in the state of Kentucky in Keshawn Dixon.

Lastly, Clarksville High made history becoming the first team in the Clarksville area to complete back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. Isaac Shelby earned his 100th career win this season as well, and on the same night he became the Wildcats all-time winningest coach.

Through the eyes of District Programs and Activities Coordinator John Miller, fall sports had yet another successful fall athletic season, but now it’s time to turn athletic departments’ attention to winter sports.
