Here’s a look at some of this week’s product recall and safety announcements.
This coffee can do more than perk you up
A Texas coffee company is recalling one of its roasts — because it could perk up more than just some men’s spirits.
Bestherbs Coffee has issued a voluntary recall for its New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee.
The move was made after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found it contains a substance very similar to a key ingredient in the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
Bestherbs sold the coffee nationwide from July 2014 through June 2016 on various websites and in some retail stores.
Some customers were buying it to perk things up in the bedroom. But FDA spokeswoman Lyndsay Meyer said it is not clear if the product works like Viagra.
Can problem prompts baked bean recall
Bush’s Baked Beans is recalling three varieties of its canned baked beans due to a problem with the cans.
Over the weekend the company announced the voluntary recall of three flavors of baked beans – original, brown sugar hickory flavor, and country style – all sold in 28-ounce cans.
The company said the cans have potentially defective side seams.
No illnesses have been reported, but the company is urging consumers to throw the products away.
