CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rebecca Janssen has announced her candidacy for the Montgomery County Commission in District 7.
A member of the modern gig economy, Janssen said, she works as a tax pro, campaign manager and social media manager. She also co-owns a small business coordinating craft shows in Nashville. She has been part of the Montgomery County Democratic Party communications team since 2023 and is currently first vice chair of communications.
Janssen has a degree in Modern Languages from Liverpool John Moores University. She is originally from the United Kingdom but relocated to the United States in 2001 and has been a Tennessee resident since 2007. A mom of three, she said she and her husband moved their family to Woodlawn from Dickson County in 2016, attracted by the beautiful surroundings, affordable housing, and good schools. She said she is passionate about protecting the character of this part of the county while bringing services that residents need.
Like many of her neighbors and friends, she said, she has watched the whirlwind of development in the rest of the county that is creeping ever closer to rural Woodlawn. Every day, she said, she witnesses the impact of planning decisions that make commute times longer and more chaotic. Other important issues include working to bring good paying jobs to Montgomery County, and supporting our public schools.
As a county commissioner she said she will be an active participant in community planning to work with residents and businesses in building a community that can face 21st century challenges and be ready for the next generation of citizens to take over.
