It is that time of the year when buyers are out looking for their new home. Our real estate market comes alive and sellers are thinking now is the time!
If you are thinking about placing your home on the market and don’t know where to begin let me give you some pointers to get you started.
First, find an agent that will listen to your needs and give you advice on how to properly prepare your home. Then follow their advice.
Second, set a realistic price for you home. Remember that there are hundreds of other homes on the market that you are in competition with.
Third, clear your home of clutter and box up all those family photos you have sitting around. You want buyers to feel like they can see themselves in your home. They really are not concerned with your Aunt Ethel even though she is a great person!
Fourth, how about some fresh paint on those walls and cleaning those carpets? After all, your home has probably been all shut up in the winter months and lingering smells from cooking and pets sink in.
Fifth, speaking of pets, let’s make sure they are out of the home for showings. Just like you my pets are part of my family but not everyone feels the same.
Lastly, have patience. A listing agents job is to get you the highest and best price for your home in the shortest amount of time possible. They are working for you with your best interest in mind.
