Ray Elliott Ford Jr., age 95 of Port Royal, passed away September 4, 2021, at Fieldstone Place.
Ray was born April 4, 1926, in Clarksville, TN to the late Ray E. Ford Sr., and Hester Pickering Ford. In addition to his parents, Ray is also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Smith Ford; daughter, Susan Ford Turner; grandson, Cameron Ford Watts and brother, William “Billy” Joshua Ford. He is survived by his daughters: Beverly (Ben) Kimbrough, Sandra Ford, Jane (David) Johnson; son-in-law, Jeff Turner; grandchildren: Candice (Richard) Blake, Thomas Purvis, Clay (Megan) Purvis, Regan Kimbrough, Drake (Bethany) Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Breanna Johnson, Davy (Natalie) Johnson, Conner Watts, Carson Watts; great-grandchildren: Kaylee Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Margaret Blake, and Ray Blake.
Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was retired from B.F. Goodrich/ Vulcan and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for over 50 Years. He loved dancing, badminton, and volleyball. Ray was active in the Senior Olympics at both local and state levels, acquiring over 400 Olympic medals. Ray was also an avid bridge player and served as a county commissioner.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Brother John Casey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 12 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be at Port Royal United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sam Irwin and Richard Blake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Port Royal United Methodist Church 2989 HWY 76, Adams, TN 370103.
