CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery County Highway Department announced that the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has forced the closure of Rawlings Road Bridge due to safety concerns.

The county Highway Department told Clarksville Now there is significant structural deterioration to the bridge deck, which was outlined in TDOT’s biannual bridge inspection report in 2022.

The department said they incorporated funds in the following year’s fiscal budget to replace the deck and perform other repairs that are necessary. The bridge repairs are estimated to take 80 working days to complete and will cost the Highway Department around $620,000.

All residents west of the bridge are expected to use Lylewood Road from Highway 79 as a detour. The Highway Department anticipates beginning bridge repairs and construction in conjunction with suitable weather and apologized to those affected.
