CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Ramblewood Apartments, one of the oldest low-income housing facilities in Montgomery County, is under new management, and residents are promised some much-needed improvements to their homes.

Ramblewood Apartments, located on Highway 48/13, was purchased by Ramblewood I, a company based in Manhattan Beach, California, on March 18, for $11.7 million, according to records obtained by Clarksville Now. It was last sold in 2005 for $2.5 million.

Economic Development Council CEO Buck Dellinger discussed the purchase in February with the Industrial Development Board, saying the EDC acted as bond issuer for the purchase and that the purchase could lead to renovations for Ramblewood.

‘A good place, but it could be parred up’

Clarksville Now spoke to some of the residents at Ramblewood, many of whom agreed the apartments could use an update.

Chris Chisolm has lived at Ramblewood for 16 years and has raised two kids there. He said Ramblewood “is a good place, but could be parred up.”

“It’s helped our family. It’s a nice place if you take it how it is. There’s not much to do up here because they got a lot of rules, but that’s understandable. But the apartments need to be renovated. The whole structure needs to be changed except for the brick,” Chisolm said. “This place has been here since the ’80s. It’s housed a lot of people.”

Theresa Graybill has lived at Ramblewood for nine years. She said she would be willing to move for a time if she could come back to a more modern place to live.

“There’s some maintenance that needs to be done that hasn’t been kept up with. The handicap apartments need to be more accessible, and then there’s maintenance on the outside like the gutters.” Graybill said. “If they renovated everything that needed to be done, update the appliances and fix the things that need to be fixed, it would be worth it.”

No details were given on what renovations might take place at Ramblewood. Clarksville Now has reached out to LHP Capital, who is providing management for Ramblewood.
