FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans”, of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will hold a Color Casing Ceremony as the unit prepares to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
The ceremony will be held Thursday, October 20 at 2 p.m. at Fort Campbell.
The casing of the colors is a tradition for deploying troops to “case colors” before leaving. The “colors,” or flag, represents the unit on the battlefield, and casing it symbolizes the unit is prepared for movement.
