CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st, visited Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville on Friday morning to show their unity and support for health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rakkasan soldiers were showing their gratitude, for what they have received from the local community, to the health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. A total of 131 care packages, containing snacks, and 100 masks were given to the Tennova healthcare staff.
Commander of the 1st Battalion, Lt. Colonel James Stultz, said the American public has been super supportive of the U.S. Military and one of the best things about being stationed at Fort Campbell is how the community comes together to support the soldiers and their families during deployments.
“This is just one opportunity for us to give back and pay a little bit forward for all the support we’ve received,” Stultz said.
“I think it’s beautiful that the folks at Fort Campbell put together the gift bags for our front-line folks, “said Alex Villa, CEO of Tennova. “It’s tremendous. Not just for nursing, but for all the employees that interact with patients.”
Villa talked about his staff saying they often feel like they are alone, and this gives them an opportunity to understand the community is behind them and appreciates what they do. Villa also thanked Fort Campbell, adding Tennova is very thankful for all of the men and women who serve.
