CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSDVILLENOW) The National Weather Service is reporting a chance of rain with possible severe isolated thunderstorms for part of the Memorial Day weekend around Middle Tennessee.

Meteorologist Justin Jackson with the National Weather Service office in Nashville said the storms expected to develop Saturday afternoon into Saturday night could pack a punch and be on the strong to severe side.

“It looks like large hail and damaging winds will be the main concern. Really, the main thing we’re going to be looking out for is Saturday night,” said Jackson. He said a line of thunderstorms will move through the area between around 8 p.m. and midnight which could bring the threat of severe weather.

Jackson said the main threat with the weather will be damaging straight-line winds, large hail, and the possibility of a tornado can’t be ruled out. Another round of showers and possible thunderstorms could be on tap again for Sunday afternoon.

The holiday weekend won’t be a total loss. Jackson added that the high on Monday will be around 82 and it doesn’t look like there will be any showers or thunderstorms in the forecast.
