CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On the first day of Q108’s Q-Up the Classroom, the radiothon raised over $21,000, nearing last year’s total of $27,000, and with another day of fundraising to go.

All of the money raised goes to the CMC Teacher Warehouse, to make sure teachers – and children in need – have plenty of supplies for the school year. This year’s goal is $40,000, and you can help make it happen!

On Thursday, Q108 featured several guests on the air, including the Kirkwood High School Marching Band, city Mayor Joe Pitts, County Mayor Wes Golden, Schools Director Jean Luna Vedder and representatives from Ascension Saint Thomas, TriStar Hospitals, Google, Altra Federal Credit Union, Legends Bank and United Way.

Today, the Q108 hosts will be joined by the Kenwood and Clarksville High School Cheer Teams, state Rep. Aron Maberry, state Sen. Bill Powers, Miss Clarksville and Miss Teen Clarksville and more. At 2 p.m. today, nationally syndicated radio show hosts Erik Zachary and Jordan Foster with XYZ with Erik Zachary will be in the Clarksville studio hosting the radiothon through the 6 p.m. close, when the grand total will be announced.

How to help Teacher Warehouse

The Teacher Warehouse, provided by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, is a free supply store available to CMCSS teachers. Teachers have access to donated supplies for the benefit of student achievement. In the past 15 years, the store has saved local teachers an estimated $800,000 in out-of-pocket expenses.

By donating financially to the CMC Teacher Warehouse, the staff can purchase exactly what teachers need the most, including often-overlooked items like toiletries and personal care items. You can make a monetary donation of any size, but donating $50 will make you an honorary Backpack Filler. You can wait and become a Backpack Filler during the live radiothon on Q108, or you can make your $50 donation online.

Be sure to tune in to Q108 today to hear more, and to call in at 931-648-7721 with your pledge! Anyone calling in with a donation of $50 or more will have their name mentioned on the air.

Q-Up the Classroom is presented by Grace Dental and The Youth Academy.
