CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – We’re still in the first blush of the New Year, which is a time when people get reinvigorated to do more of what they love. And if those loves include the arts, from pottery making to photo taking, the APSU Community School of the Arts is where to turn.

Austin Peay State University has organized this program for more than 20 years, gleaning talent from its faculty, some of whom are on the staff, as well as from community artists and artisans.

Spring classes and workshops are now open for registration, but for many, Friday, Feb. 21 is the last day to sign up. One such class is a basic ceramics course taught by local artist Patrick Green for eight weeks. Another is an eight-week “Art for Teens” class. Basic drawing and watercolor classes, taught to students who are 16 or older, constitute yet another series that begins next week.

Other classes are offered in the disciplines of music, dance, theater and writing. Then there are the one-day workshops in fun areas such as wreath making, graphic design, basket weaving or jewelry design. To view the entire list of classes, along with the fees for each, visit www.apsu.edu/csa/spring-2014-programs.

“In recent years we have really worked to expand each area of the school to reach a much wider audience,” said CSA coordinator Matthew Burns. “Our tagline is ‘There’s Something for Everyone’ and it couldn’t be more true. From ceramics to web design to wreath making to theater classes for teens, there are classes for both children and adults to meet just about any artistic need.”
