CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksvillenow.com The Clarksville Coalition of Concerned Citizens held another of their community meetings Friday to provide access to community leaders to discuss race relations, law enforcement concerns and other issues. A panel answered questions from citizens gathered at Greater Missionary Baptist Church on Ringgold Road.
Close to 100 residents submitted questions to a panel which included Tennessee State Senator Mark Green, Tennessee State Representative Jay Reedy, Clarksville City Councilman Richard Garrett and Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson. The majority of questions seem centered around law enforcement and were answered by Sheriff Fuson.
Fuson covered questions about law enforcement training and communication between law enforcement and the public, while Senator Green answered questions about state laws and their effect locally along with support for veterans. Representative Reedy and Councilman Garrett both responded to questions and encouraged the public, especially young people to get more involved in the community.
This was the third forum of it’s type, with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan hosting a forum on July 18 and the Coalition of Concerned Citizens first community meeting on July 11. Both Mayor McMillan and the Coalition of Concerned Citizens have plans for future meetings to keep discussions moving forward on various issues involving community relations.
