CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library’s Teen Program will be holding several events this month for teens in grades 7-12. All events are free and held at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
On April 13, the Teen Program is hosting a Mystery Night from 5 – 6:30 p.m. An autographed Peyton Manning football has been stolen! Whodunit? Everyone has a motive from the players to the fans. Teens and their friends will help find the criminal and solve the mystery by interrogating suspects.
On April 20, the Teen Program will host a board game night from 5 – 6 p.m. The library has plenty of board games to play. Teens are encouraged to bring a friend and a game to share.
On April 27 from 5-6:30 p.m., the Teen Program is holding an open mic night for teens who would like to show off their talents and perform music, spoken word, comedy, poetry, and more.
Teens who would like to help plan and carry out Teen programs, suggest books and magazines for the Young Adult Collection and help create an interesting Teen area should apply for the Teen Advisory Board (TAB). The main objective of the board is to involve teens in the functioning of the library by seeking their ideas on programs, services, and materials specifically for teens, thereby improving Young Adult Services and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
Board members will also help publicize the library’s Teen activities and submit book reviews or articles for the Teen newsletter. In order to be a member of the board, the student must be in grades 7-12, have parental permission, attend and participate in TAB meetings, help with and attend Teen programs, and help with the Friends of the Library Used Book Sale. Members will be selected based on applications. Selected members will be notified by email and will have an opportunity to influence library decisions and add to their college, job, and scholarship applications. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month from January-May at 5-6 p.m. in the large meeting room at the library.
