CLARKSVILLE, TN − The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library has announced an essay contest for local students in grades 3 through 5, including those who are homeschooled. The contest invites young writers to share their thoughts on the theme: “What Do You Love About Your Library?”

Submissions must be a minimum of five paragraphs and can be turned in either online at bit.ly/CMCPL_Essay or in person at the Public Service Desk on the first floor of our main library. The deadline for all entries is Thursday, July 31.

“This is a special opportunity for students in our community to reflect on the positive impact that their library has had on their lives,” shared Christina Riedel, director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. “It will offer the contest winner an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the operations of the library and the motivations driving our team. We hope this opportunity provides a deeper understanding of how the library team works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its patrons, build community and encourage learning through joyful engaging experiences. We are looking forward to reading the inspiring stories submitted by the youth we serve.”

The winner will be named Honorary Library Director for a Day and will also receive a special invitation to the grand opening celebration of the new North Branch Library. The winning essay will be featured on the library’s website and social media, and the Honorary Director will participate in special activities as part of their recognition.
