CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Clarksville-Montgomery County (CCCC) will host an open forum with City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett Friday, July 17 at the Kenwood High School auditorium.

The mayoral forum for July will begin at 6 p.m. Members of the community are invited to attend this event to hear from community leaders about the role of law enforcement in the city and county.

Questions from the public are encouraged, and all questions will be addressed via the forum facilitator.

CCCC was formed after controversial events in Ferguson, Missouri sparked a national conversation about race issues and police accountability.

The coalition aims to work in the community to educate all members, but young adults in particular, on their roles during law enforcement contact in efforts to reduce confrontations and mistrust.

The group says the goal can be accomplished through quarterly forums to educate citizens of this community on how government works at the city and county levels and our roles to build community cohesiveness.

CCCC encourages citizens of all ages, ethnicities, races and genders to identify and address their concerns with law enforcement engagement.

The group hopes to implement better practices to decrease escalated acts of violence, including the deaths of citizens, during police arrest.

The Coalition says its mission is to reduce and prevent any unrest associated with the results of citizen-law enforcement engagements.
