NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two Tennessee lawmakers have proposed bills that would legalize the possession and casual exchange of up to half an ounce of marijuana.
WKRN News 2 reports that the bills have been proposed by Rep. Harold Love and Sen. Jeff Yarbro of Nahsville and would amend the TN Code to allow possession and casual, non-monetary exchange in small amounts.
Possession, casual exchange, or distribution of one ounce or more would become a misdemeanor with a $100 fine.
The amendment would not affect hashish, which would still be illegal without a prescription.
If passed, the amendment would take effect on July 1 of this year.
