CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Assistant District Public Defender Collier Goodlett was presented with the TN District Public Defenders Conference 2016 President’s Award for the Middle Tennessee region by District Public Defender and Past President Jeffery Harmon.

Collier was an assistant district public defender in the 21st Judicial District several years ago, where he earned a reputation for fiercely representing his clients. He moved to Clarksville and has worked for Roger Nell, District Public Defender, 19th Judicial District Office for many years with the same dedication to criminal defense.

“Anytime someone needs information or help in a case Collier takes the time to help them. He has been dedicated to his clients as a public defender since 1989 and is justifiably recognized for his achievements, says Vanessa Pettigrew Bryan, District Public Defender for the 21st Judicial District.

“No lawyer is more deserving of this inaugural award, recognizing Collier’s statewide contribution to our profession. He is devoted to representing our clients and to maintaining the high standards required of everyone who has a part in the criminal justice system. He is a lifelong student of the law and is a fount of knowledge and experience for lawyers in Robertson and Montgomery Counties and across the State of Tennessee. Collier is the best of the best and we are blessed to have him serve with us in Clarksville and Springfield,” says Roger Nell, District Public Defender for the 19th Judicial District.

Mr. Goodlett began his career with the State of Tennessee in 1969. Mr. Goodlett is a graduate of YMCA School of Law, now known as the Nashville School of Law in 1977 and became an Assistant District Public Defender for the 21st Judicial District in 1989. In 1993, Collier began working for the 19th Judicial District, comprised of Montgomery and Robertson counties.
