CLARKSVILLE, TN − America’s extended 250th birthday celebration, the Semiquincentennial, is about to see its sixth presentation here in Clarksville. This latest event will be an intriguing performance that highlights America’s economic growth during the 250 years of our nation’s history.
On April 9 at 4 p.m., the Mabry Stage on the Austin Peay State University campus will come alive with a dramatic reading featuring APSU professor emeritus Greg Zieren and the ghost of Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest and most generous entrepreneurs in history.
This will be another performance of “The Road to 250: America’s Story.” Thus far, audiences have been treated to performances that told of the evolution of democracy, the Revolutionary War, the writing of our Constitution, westward expansion and the role of the military in defending the bold, new American way of life.
These dramatic, thematic readings that tell the story of American success are free and open to the public. This is a Clarksville-Montgomery County initiative.
