CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Northeast boys basketball led by first-year Eagles coach Sam Young continued its reign at the top of District 10-AAA after dominating Clarksville 76-50 Tuesday at Springfield High.

The win over the second-seeded Wildcats gave the Eagles their third straight district title.

Marcus Averhart lit it up from behind arch, knocking down seven three-pointers to finish with a game-high 23 points.

The Eagles also had four players selected to the All-District team including Averhart, Isaiah Farrior, Ty Jackson and Joshua Alexander.

Northeast will host Gallatin at 7 p.m. Saturday, looking to carry over its momentum into the Region 5 tournament.

Lady Hawks snatch up second straight district title

Rossview girls basketball won back-to-back District 10-AAA championships Monday at Springfield High after defeating Northwest 51-37.

Ever Walker led the way for the Lady Hawks with 16 points, as they improved to 25-3 on the year.

That wasn’t all of the good news Rossview would receive, as four Lady Hawks were selected to the All-District team including District MVP Kayla Gilmore, Kristin Edwards, Courteney Daniels and Walker.

Gilmore, a Bethel University commit, averaged 13 points and eight rebounds during her senior campaign.

Rossview girls basketball coach Justin Woods was also named District Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Rossview will now turn its attention to 7 p.m. Friday when they host Wilson Central in the first round of the Region 5 tournament.
