CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Possum Stock music festival is back for another year of local music and art October 19 and 20 on Old Oak Plains Rd., not far from the Sango area of Clarksville.

Returning for its fifth year, founders Cody Parson and Steven Schryver are happy the festival has relocated closer to city limits than in years past. The two men stress the importance of Possum Stock remaining an all-local festival featuring many of the city’s most active original acts along with regional artists that many locals have grown to enjoy.

“The scene has been active again for a few years and after developing that community it was clear certain artists had to be brought in,” Parson said.

Local favorite Nashville Americana artist Cody Brooks is set to play Saturday evening. Brooks is a Possum Stock alum, having played the festival three times before in addition to being active in the Clarksville original scene for years.

“Clarksville harbored me as I found some of my most revealing moments of self while creating music,” Brooks said. “These children of war, looking for peace in woods, share space with each other and embrace the density as they can cram an entire scene into a basement or someone’s back porch. The ‘Do It Yourself’ mentality forms the foundations of Possum Stock and the community surrounding it.”

Tickets are $25 during the pre-sale online. After October 15 the tickets are $40 for camping passes and $20 for single day passes.

This year’s headlining act is Whiskey Angel, Parson’s own project. Other local favorites include Fever, The Rumps, Weird Green Lemon, Gravity Cosmonaut and The Whitney Brothers. For more information, visit the festival’s Facebook page.
