CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Pop singer and Clarksville native Clairity will do her part to feed the hungry during the Empty Bowls Paint-a-thon this Saturday.
Empty Bowls is a grass roots effort to fight hunger with proceeds raised from the event going to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and Urban Ministries Grace Assistance Food Pantry. Throughout the year, volunteers paint bowls with special messages and pictures to be sold at local churches as part of the event.
Her grandmother, Rita Arancibia, says Clairity has grown up with Empty Bowls. “Since she was 10 she has painted bowls for the annual event. In the beginning when we did not have as many people painting, committee members would get their families together to paint. All my grandchildren have painted bowls every year; it has become a tradition in our family,” she said.
This year the young artist and musician decided to begin Clairity Doodles for Hunger to help Empty Bowls.
She will be at the Pottery Room on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. during the Paint-a-thon that starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m.
She will be available to sign bowls and visit with painters and will create her own bowls as well.
As part of Clairity Doodles for Hunger, she will also host a painting event for clients at Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen Monday, November 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Clairity will also paint bowls with students from Clarksville Academy Friday, Nov. 20.
“In essence, Clairity Doodles for Hunger will help our entire community by paying it forward and supporting those who need help and a hand up,” Arancibia said.
