CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Police have issued a public awareness announcement regarding vehicle break-ins Friday, March 19.

While investigating several vehicle burglaries occurring in the early morning hours of March 18, detectives were concerned to find a new development in the video footage.

While reviewing video footage, law enforcement noticed one of the suspects pulled a gun from his person. This action has been out of the ordinary from previous video footage and police believe may be a new development.

In the video, one of the males could be seen checking door handles looking for unlocked cars. As he approached one car parked in a driveway, he pulled out a gun as if preparing for an encounter of some type.

The video was from a series of break-ins occurring in the Bridlewood Rd, Medallion Circle and Coronado Drive area.

Officials have reviewed numerous videos of other vehicle burglaries occurring in Clarksville. In most cases, the suspects usually check door handles and move on, without ever displaying a firearm. Law enforcement want to reiterate the existence of a firearm was out of the norm.

Police hope to raise awareness and reiterate calling 911 when suspicious activity is seen.
