NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Officials say a toddler has died after being struck by a vehicle in south Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police say in a statement that the incident happened Monday evening at the Stonebrook Apartments.
Police say 21-month-old Siang Hoih and her mother, 28-year-old Thang Cing, were struck in the parking lot as 61-year-old Taria Fakhree was backing out of a parking space. When Fakhree saw that he had hit them, he loaded both into his vehicle and took them to the hospital, where the toddler was pronounced dead.
Police say the mother was treated for minor injuries and released.
According to the police statement, Fakhree showed no sign of impairment and was cooperating with officers.
