HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – After a year-long investigation, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Drug & Violent Crime Strike Force arrested two suspects accused of using money from drug sales to purchase real estate throughout the city of Hopkinsville.

Police believe the two also used government-issued food stamps illegally.

30-year-old Brandon Canty and 30-year-old Natasha Shoemaker-Canty were each charged with five counts of trafficking cocaine, acquiring property with income from controlled substances, four counts of fraudulent use of a food stamp card, harboring a vicious animal, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brandon Canty was additionally charged with persistent felony offender first degree.

Police seized over $7,000 from the suspects and places liens on eight real estate properties purchased by them.
