Update, 3:30 p.m. Tuesday: This afternoon, at about 1:13 p.m., Clarksville Police received a tip from a caller who reported spotting Epps in the area of Darlene Drive. Officers and deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately. Epps attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended without further incident.

He has been transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville for evaluation before being booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Update, 9:35 p.m.: Police have lifted the perimeter, and residents are now allowed to return to the area.

Officers made contact with the individual inside the residence and determined he was not the person they were trying to locate. The suspect, 29-year-old Matthew Epps IV, remains at large and has active warrants for domestic assault and false imprisonment. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police have closed off a north Peachers Mill Road neighborhood as they negotiate with a barricaded person in a house.

Clarksville Police established the secure perimeter around 1300 Sharptail Trail, off McClardy Road, according to police spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien.

As a safety precaution, McClardy has been shut down at Peachers Mill, and no traffic is being allowed into the area. Individuals already in the McClardy area may leave, but will not be allowed to return until the situation has been resolved and the area is deemed safe.

“The Clarksville Police Department is requesting that residents in the immediate area near 1300 Sharptail Trail remain indoors if possible and avoid any activity that may interfere with police operations,” Beaubien said.

No further information has been released.
