CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Police Department has released new numbers on weather related traffic issues.

Through 5:30 a.m. Saturday there were a reported 128 motorists assists, 40 crashes with injuries, and 131 non-injury crashes in the city and county.

These numbers do not include the unaccounted for motorist assists by citizens helping each other or unreported fender benders.

According to Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll, road crews are working to clear some 700 plus miles of road in Clarksville/Montgomery County and says residents should avoid driving until conditions improve.

Many abandoned vehicles remain on snowy roads, which present an added hazard.

Temperatures will remain below freezing through Sunday, followed by a wintry mix on Monday and isolated snow showers on Tuesday.
