CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Emergency Operations Center was activated at 5 p.m. to monitor weather activity and emergency responses as snow and ice began accumulating in Clarksville.

Representatives from the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency, Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Red Cross, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services, and the Clarksville Department of Electricity are staffing the Center until further notice, according to Lt. Steve Warren with CPD.

Snow started falling around 3 p.m. in the city of Clarksville and turned to freezing rain at about 5:15 p.m.

Eleven vehicle crashes have been reported since 5 p.m. The majority of these crashes are in East Clarksville, centered around Rossview Road, Trenton Road, Dunbar Cave Road, and Highway 374. There have already been numerous motorists assists.

No roads are closed at this time, but people are urged to stay off the roads tonight if at all possible.
