CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – It is that time of year again when children return to school.
Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) classes start on Monday, August 8 with a half day schedule. The first full day is Wednesday, August 10.
CMCSS, Clarksville Police Department, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office want to remind everyone of the following rules of the road and information to ensure a safe 2016-2017 school year.
SCHOOL ZONES
School Zones will be active and enforced- drivers need to be alert to School Zone signs and their speed.
ALL school zones have a 20 MPH speed limit unless otherwise posted.
Speeding in a school zone could result in a reckless driving charge.
NOTE: The School Zone reduced speed lights will be flashing on the “full day” schedule. The speed lights will not flash on half day schedules.

EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS
Rossview Rd and Campus
East Montgomery Elementary

To avoid school traffic delays, take alternate routes or plan additional time to arrive at your destination.
“We will be watching for people passing school buses and for speeders in the school zones. Rossview Rd should be avoided if you are not going to school,” CPD’s Traffic Unit Supervisor Sgt Johnny Ransdell said.
