CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLE) The Clarksville Police Department has announced procedures designed to minimize delays and improve safety for those attending the City of Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration on July 3 at Liberty Park.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Clarksville’s Independence Day event July 3 at Liberty Park

Parking inside of Liberty Park, which will open at 5 p.m. on July 3, will be available only for vehicles with handicap license plates and placards, until all parking spots are full.

Satellite parking will be in Downtown Clarksville and at the CMCSS Facilities Building (formerly Jostens) at 1312 Highway 48/13. Free Clarksville Transit System shuttle service to Liberty Park from both locations will begin after 4 p.m. Parking in Historic Downtown Clarksville is free after 5 p.m.

Clarksville Police officers will be at all major intersections on Riverside Drive and around Liberty Park before and after the event to provide traffic control. Motorists are advised to pay attention to the officers, follow directions and be prepared to stop.

Pedestrians are encouraged to cross only at intersections where officers are present.

Boats with trailers will be allowed to access the boat ramp parking area until 4 p.m. or until the parking lot has been filled. No boats will be allowed to exit the parking area from 8 p.m. until the park is empty. Marina users must have approved vehicle tags or temporary passes.

Zinc Plant Road and the Zinc Plant Bridge will be closed to traffic from 9:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the fireworks show.

Liberty Park Grill will be operating from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on July 3. Beginning at 4 p.m., guests can pay a fee of $20 to park at the restaurant. Each paying vehicle will receive a $20 voucher redeemable for food and drink at Liberty Park Grill. Offer is valid July 3 only.

At the completion of the event, CPD’s priority will be to keep vehicle and shuttle bus traffic flowing out of Liberty Park onto the main thoroughfares of Riverside Drive and Highway 48/13. Side streets will be merged into the main thoroughfares as traffic flow allows.

Motorists should expect heavy traffic around Liberty Park and are encouraged to be courteous and patient. Last year, it took approximately 90 minutes for traffic flow to normalize after the event.

Event goers should be aware of these Liberty Park safety rules:

1. No solicitation.
2. No pets allowed during event. Clearly marked service animals are permitted.
3. No drugs or alcoholic beverages.
4. No fighting or foul language.
5. No personal fireworks.
6. No personal grills.
7. No weapons.
8. No drones.
