The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Clarksville.
According to a CPD report, officers responded to an aggravated assault call on Lavender Circle, where a woman said she heard several shots fired near the area of a large party in progress.
Police determined that 19-year-old Jalen Reeves-Maybin was grazed in the shoulder by a bullet. Reeves-Maybin is a football player for the University of Tennessee, who graduated from Northeast High School.
He told police he was standing in the street near a home on Lavender Circle when someone began shooting. After he was shot, he and his friends left the scene in a vehicle. The victim said he did not see the shooter, and no other witnesses at the scene were able to provide information.
Reeves-Maybin was taken to Gateway Medical Center for treatment and released. News outlets in Knoxville have reported that he is already back in class. There is no further information at this time.
