Police said the family received unsolicited text messages from multiple different phone numbers claiming to be a business that wraps vehicles.

They were sent a check for almost $4,000 and told to use the money to pay an individual to wrap their vehicle, then return the remaining cash back to the sender.

Thankfully, the family did not cash the check and stopped responding to the text messages.

Police said the check sent to the family came from a bank in Arkansas. When investigators contacted the bank, representatives said there have been numerous phony checks sent out in an attempt to scam people.

If you receive a questionable check, always contact the bank directly to confirm its validity.
