CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police closed off a north Clarksville neighborhood and negotiated with a barricaded man for 5 1/2 hours overnight Saturday before he finally surrendered at about 3:45 a.m.

At about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a domestic violence incident in the 3000 block of Fort Sumter Drive, according to Officer Scott Beaubien. That’s just south of Tiny Town Road.

The man’s spouse and children safely left the house.

Officers were on loud speakers and pounding on the door of the house, trying to get the man to come out, according to Clarksville Now news partner Dash 10 Media. He peacefully surrendered at 3:45 a.m. Sunday and has been charged with aggravated domestic assault.
