FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Colonel Alan Boyer, commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) “Bastogne”, recently visited ClarksvilleNow.com and spoke with Lee Erwin about the 101st Airborne Division’s 75th Anniversary events taking place in August.

The 101st Airborne Division is set to honor a “Legacy of Heroism” and to commemorate the division’s 75th anniversary at the installation, August 16-26. The birthday of the 101st is August 16 which is a day to begin the celebration of the extraordinary soldiers who have led the way for 75 years and continue to protect our nation.
From Normandy, France to Fort Campbell KY., the Screaming eagles soldiers are being honored and recognized for their heroism, their achievements, and their past and present sacrifices in serving the country while wearing the distinguished Eagle “Old Abe” patch.
Colonel Boyer commands around 4,000 soldiers in the 1st BCT and he talks about recently returning from the 73rd commemoration of D-Day in Normandy, France as well as the beginnings of the 101st in World War II.
Boyer also shared some insight into the workings and the history of the “Bastogne” brigade.
