CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksvillenow.com Around a dozen Clarksville Police Officers took to the basketball court at the Kleeman Community Center Saturday, August 6 partnering with RHOP Ministry in a community outreach event. “Basketball with a Cop” was organized through Police Chief Al Ansley and Apostle Ron Washington, and drew dozens of youngsters, teens and young adult players.

Before the games began Chief Ansley talked about the event. “I think it’s a great idea, I think it’s a chance for us to get to know the community, for you to get to know us and to have some fun,” Ansley said. All of the officers who were participating in games were doing so on their own time and were not getting paid.

Ansley added that the department had brought some recruitment brochures for anyone who might be thinking about a career in law enforcement. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan was also on hand to share her support and thanked the police department, the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department and all of the young people who came by to play basketball.
