CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Academy sophomore wing Trinity Bankston has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following her performance in the Cougars’ games the week of Feb. 9.

During that time, Bankston averaged 13.7 points per game on 50% shooting, along with 5 rebounds per game. Most importantly, she delivered a 23-point, 8-rebound performance against Goodpasture in a district quarterfinal win to extend the Cougars’ season.

“Trinity has been playing really well on both sides of the ball the last month,” Cougars head coach Charles Clark told Clarksville Now. “Her engagement, shot selection, and ability to defend multiple positions on the floor have been her biggest strengths. She was recognized for making the all-district tournament team for her efforts last week. Congrats to Trinity, she’s worked up to it.”

Bankston’s hot streak was a big part of the Cougars’ run to the district semifinals. Her tough physical play on the defensive end and ability to score from all three levels, showcased by a 50% shooting percentage from beyond the arc, were a big part of why Academy won 17 games this season.

While their season ended in the regional quarterfinal against Middle Tennessee Christian on Tuesday, Bankston is a promising young player who can help lead the program in the future.

“I am truly honored and grateful to receive this award, and it means so much to be recognized for something I love,” said Bankston. “This recognition motivates me to keep working hard, improving my game, and representing my team and community with pride.”
