HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A pair of community heavyweights have teamed up to secure the naming rights to Hopkinsville’s hottest new facility. Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville — formerly known as Hopkinsville Sportsplex — announced the partnership and new facility name during a media event Tuesday.

The Sportsplex, which has already welcomed over 45,000 visitors since its grand opening Jan. 9, has made a region-wide splash the past four months, hosting several dozen tournaments, leagues, events and parties.

As part of the 5-year naming rights agreement, Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville will feature co-branded signage at the facility entrance, in designated highway locations and throughout the venue, as well as the digital/online footprint, including the newly-designed Sportsplex logo.

“We are thrilled to have these two Hopkinsville institutions combining forces to create an exciting partnership with this naming-rights agreement,” said Sportsplex Marketing and Events Coordinator Chris Jung. “Planters Banks and Jennie Stuart Health have been proven corporate cornerstones in this area for years, constantly proving their respective and generous commitment to this community. Having their identities as part of our new name only increases our credibility and instantly takes the Sportsplex to a higher level.”

The City of Hopkinsville produced and distributed a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Sportsplex naming-rights contract in January. Several area businesses expressed interest, but a submitted co-bid by Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health brought forth the most lucrative financial offer.

“Planters Bank is excited to partner with Jennie Stuart Health to provide opportunities to assist our local communities in developing the skills and strategies needed for people to live healthy, active lifestyles. In addition to the physical aspect of sports, we know that sports develop important leadership and social qualities in citizens,” said Planters Bank CEO Elizabeth McCoy. “This partnership is the result of a mutual passion and commitment to advancing sports participation throughout Christian County, as well as surrounding counties. The Sportsplex is an incredible benefit to our local athletes, who will train and compete here, as well as a magnet drawing visitors to our city. Beyond competitive gaming, it’s a
stunning facility that will host a wide array of events. We ‘expect great things’ growing from the Sportsplex, and we are thrilled to be a part of growing even greater things in the future!”

“It is a privilege for Jennie Stuart Health to partner with a community icon like Planters Bank to promote, support and accommodate aspirational athletics and healthy lifestyles for our youth and their families in western Kentucky,” added Jennie Stuart Health CEO Eric Lee.
