CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Area YMCA hosted it’s annual Tickle Me Pink Benefit Luncheon for the Y’s After Breast Cancer (ABC) Program. Over 270 attended the event held each year during October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Amanda Cherry with the Y said funds are still coming in for the event but the total will surpass $35,000. Each year Clarksville Fire Rescue makes a donation and this year they raised $8,320 along with an additional $1,000 from the Chick-fil-A High School Leader Academy.
During the luncheon information about the ABC program was shared with those attending through a chat session with breast cancer survivors as they shared their inspiring stories.
Q108 morning air personality Gretchen Cordy also announced the winners of the Battle of the Bras. Elaborately decorated bras were entered in a contest where votes were cast online at Q108 as a fundraiser.
Action Air received two awards, one for Most Popular Online and Judge’s Choice for their bra. Fortera Credit Union won for most money raised for the program with their bra.
ABC is a free 16-week program at the YMCA that provides personal training and healing resources for women during and after a breast cancer diagnosis.
